Two weeks ago we talked about something many highly sensitive people quietly experience:
Exhaustion.
Not because we’re lazy.
Not because we’re doing life wrong.
But because our nervous systems process far more than most people realize.
Since then, perhaps you’ve begun noticing a pattern.
Exhaustion doesn’t usually appear all at once.
It builds quietly.
One extra obligation.
One more difficult conversation.
Another late night.
Another day without quiet.
Before long, we find ourselves wondering why we feel so drained.
Reflection Questions
Here are two questions I’ve been asking myself lately:
“Where is my energy going?”
“What drains it most consistently?”
Not just my time.
My actual energy.
Those aren’t always the same thing.
One stressful conversation can consume more energy than several hours of work.
One peaceful hour alone can restore more than an entire weekend spent staying busy.
Reflection Exercise
If you haven’t done so already, try this simple exercise over the next few days.
Whenever someone asks you to do something, pause before answering.
Ask yourself:
“Will saying yes leave me with enough energy for what matters most?”
If the answer is no, don’t ignore that feeling.
You don’t have to feel guilty for protecting your well-being.
Final Reflection
Remember...
Healthy boundaries aren’t walls.
They’re the doors that allow us to keep showing up for the people we care about without losing ourselves in the process.
You weren’t designed to run at full speed every hour of every day.
You were designed to recover, reflect, and begin again.
I hope you’ve found a little more space to breathe this month.
Until next month,
Cliff
